Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah should first resign, then face investigation in MUDA scam: BJP’s Shashil Namoshi
Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], August 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Shashil G Namoshi on Sunday targeted Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his alleged involvement in the MUDA scam, demanding his resignation before facing an investigation.
Namoshi questioned the Congress party’s integrity, saying, If the party believes in the Constitution, then they should take Siddaramaiah’s resignation.
His remark comes after the Karnataka Governor granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam,
“The governor of Karnataka has permitted to prosecute Siddaramaiah, due to whatever has transferred in MUDA…Now after the governor has permitted to prosecute him, he has to respect the Constitution of India and first resign from the seat and then face the investigation. I only question the integrity of the Congress party. Congress party says we believe in the Constitution and truly if you believe the Constitution then you should take the resignation from Siddaramaiah,” Namoshi told ANI.
This comes after Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
In response to the governor’s decision, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the Congress will stage a state-wide protest on Monday against the prosecution order.
“On Monday, a state-wide protest will be organised against the Governor’s move to allow prosecution against the Chief Ministers, leaders and workers in all district centres will register a protest to the president,” Shivkumar said.
Earlier this month, Siddaramaiah refuted the allegations, stating that everything was done according to the law and he had not exerted any influence on the plot allotment.
“In the case of MUDA, everything was done according to the law. I have not exerted any influence on the allotment of the plot. My wife was given a replacement plot in 2021 during the BJP government period, as per the law,” Siddaramaiah said.
The MUDA scam surfaced after social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint against Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from MUDA.
