Kashmir’s Ulfat Khan becomes first girl cadet selected as Parade Commander at PM rally

Hailing from a village near the Line of Control in Baramulla, Srinagar, Senior National Cadet Corps (NCC) Captain Ulfat Khan, has made history by becoming the first-ever girl cadet selected as Parade Commander at the Prime Minister’s rally during the Republic Day Camp 2024 held in New Delhi.

Ulfat’s selection from a pool of 2,274 NCC cadets across 28 states and union territories stands as a testament to her unwavering determination and leadership qualities. Born in Uri in 2002, Ulfat has navigated geographical barriers and excelled in various NCC camps, including the National Senior Certificate, Special National Integration Camp, Republic Day Camp, Mini Sailing, and Community Awareness Training Camp.

During the Republic Day Camp, Ulfat’s exceptional performance shone through, earning her the prestigious title of ‘Best Commander’ along with the DG Commendation Medal Certificate.

This accomplishment is not just a personal triumph for Ulfat, but a beacon of hope for aspiring young women across the country, especially those facing geographical or other challenges.
