Kathua Admin, Animal Husbandry Department collaborate to establish State-of-the-Art Gaushala cum Animal Welfare Centre for 1000 animals

KATHUA, FEBRUARY 28: The District Administration Kathua, in a groundbreaking collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Department, is set to establish a pioneering Animal Welfare Centre at Pathwal, Hiranagar.

This state-of-the-art facility, over an impressive 9 kanal land, would be the largest of its kind in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, strategically located near the National Highway.

The Animal Welfare Centre marks a significant milestone in the region’s commitment to animal welfare, with a primary focus on addressing the needs of over 1000 animals, specifically stray cows that are prone to road accidents.

This initiative highlights the district’s steadfast dedication to upholding ethical standards and providing compassionate care for all living beings, in line with constitutional mandates.

Financial support for the Animal Welfare Centre will be provided by the Animal Husbandry Department, ensuring the successful implementation of a comprehensive 24×7 rescue support system and a well-equipped first aid facility. This will greatly enhance the region’s ability to provide immediate assistance to distressed animals.

In addition, a dedicated ambulance service has been launched to cater to animals in need of urgent medical attention. The ambulance can be accessed by dialing 1962, ensuring a swift response to distressed animals and facilitating their timely transportation to the Animal Welfare Centre.

The collaboration between the District Administration and the Animal Husbandry Department underscores their proactive approach in addressing animal welfare issues in the region. The establishment of this state-of-the-art Animal Welfare Centre cum Goushala, sets a new benchmark for animal welfare initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir and will serve as a beacon of compassion and care.
