Kathua admin observes Int’l Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Nukkad Natak, pledge ceremonies held to motivate stakeholders to join eradication campaign
KATHUA, June 26: District Administration Kathua today observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing awareness activities. The main event was held in the conference Hall of the DC office, which was organized by the Social Welfare Department. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deepika Rana was the Chief Guest and presided over the proceedings.
The programme was also attended by Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Vishav Partap Singh; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem and other officers besides students/ staff members of different departments including of One Stop Centre, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Elder line and Mission Vatsalya.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest enumerated the harmful effects of Drugs and the role of all stakeholders in mobilizing the society in curbing the menace.
On the occasion, an Oath against Drug abuse was also administered to the participants.
Later a Nukkad Natak was presented at the main bazaar Kathua by the students of schools and colleges depicting the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Different events regarding Drug Abuse awareness were also organised in Educational Institutions such as GHS Banhore, GHS Dharlata, GHS Kootah, Government College for Women Kathua, GSS Chak Chabba, GHS Airwan, GHS Barnoti, GDC Ramkot, GHS Mangloor, GHS Jankhar etc.
