KC Public School attends conference hosted by Welham Boys’ School Dehradun
JAMMU, 21 Aug: 10 students of KC public School, namely, Mrinmay Mehta, Suhas Koul, Medhaj Pathania, Ada Aggarwal, Aeishna Sharma, Praney Sharma, Achyut Khajuria, Kavin Bhushan and Shreedha Gupta attended the Model United Nations (WELMUN-24) Conference hosted by Welham Boys’ School Dehradun recently. Many eminent schools such as Mayo College Ajmer, Daly College Indore, Emerald Heights International School Indore, MGD Jaipur, YPS Patiala, Assam Valley School Guwahati, Rajmata Girls’ School Jodhpur, Sunbeam School Varanasi, Sanskriti School Delhi, Jodhamal Public School Jammu and host Welham School participated in this prestigious national level event.
The Committees that functioned during the Conference were Lok Sabha, United Nations Security Council, Disarmament & International Security Committee, United Nations Economic and Social Council, Interpol, United Nations Human Rights Council and International Press Corps. KCPS delegates taking part in these Committees gave a good account of themselves.
However, it was Suhas Koul of KCPS who stood out for his brilliant performance as a member of the Lok Sabha Committee in which he debated forcefully on highly contentious national issues such as Article 356 and Uniform Civil Code. As a result, he was declared winner of the Outstanding Delegate of the Lok Sabha Committee.
The experience of attending a national level MUN gave KCPS delegates the opportunity to interact with students from well-known Indian schools and to hone their oratorical skills in addition to widening the horizons of their awareness about contemporary national and international issues facing the world of today.
Raju Chowdhary, Chairman of KCPS, and AK Mishra, Principal of the school, congratulated Suhas Koul for his persistent excellence as an outstanding speaker in several MUN conferences he has attended thus far in the current academic session.
