KC Public School hosts mega quiz contest 2023

JAMMU, December 8: 12 schools from Jammu and neighbouring towns took part in the 9 th edition of the Inter School mega quiz contest hosted by KC Public School on Dec 8, 2023. The inaugural event
was launched in 2012 and was resumed this year after a break of 3 years due to corona
pandemic. The schools taking part in the quiz were the host school KCPS, APS Miran Sahib,
APS Damana, APS Nagrota, APS Samba, Model Academy, KC International School,
International DPS, MHAC Nagbani, Shaurya International School, Jammu Sanskriti School
and DPS Jammu.

The contest was held in the multipurpose hall of KC Sports Club at 10.30 AM . About 200
students of host school and participating schools formed the responsive audience who
cheered their school teams with aplomb and enthusiasm. Based roughly on Cricket format,
the quiz began with an Innings round in which all the 12 teams answered 4 questions each as
parts of four pools containing three teams each.

At the end of this round, one team from each pool got eliminated on the basis of the lowest score. The remaining 8 teams then moved on to
the quarter final stage with only 2 teams in each pool. After answering 4 questions each at
this stage, 4 teams made it to the semi finals on the basis of higher score.

The race for the final stage turned intense with the degree of difficulty in the questions going several notches
higher. Eventually, APS Damana and host school KCPS made it to the finals. In a highly
charged atmosphere, the finalists vied with each other in getting the right answer and, in the
long run, Keshav Sharma and Varun Sharma of APS Damana emerged quizzing champions
of the 9 th edition of QUIZ-ZONE 2023.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof (Dr.) Sushil Kumar Gupta, Registrar & Dean,
Faculty of Horticulture & Forestry, SKUAST University and the Guest of Honour was Dr.
Vivek Arya from the same University. They gave away the championship trophy and
participation certificates to all the teams. In his address to the audience, Prof Gupta
appreciated the participating teams for their marvellous level of knowledge and congratulated
the victorious team from APS Damana. The event concluded with the national anthem.
