JAMMU Aug 29: KC Public School Invites Prof Gurdev of SKUAST to Conduct Session 0n Hydroponics K C Public School under its inspire talk initiative, invited Prof Gurdev to conduct a live demo session on hydroponics for the students.
The session aimed at educating and inspiring the young minds towards sustainable farming and advanced agricultural practices. Hydroponics, a modern technique of growing plants without soil, has gained significant attention in recent years due to its numerous benefits such as efficient water use, increased crop yield, and reduced environmental impact. Recognizing the importance of introducing such innovative approaches to the students, K C Public School has taken the initiative to provide them with hands-on experience in this ground-breaking technology. Prof Gurdev (HOD Physiology, SKUAST), a distinguished expert in hydroponics, has worked extensively in the field and has been actively involved in implementing this technology across various educational institutions.
His expertise and practical knowledge made him an ideal choice to guide the students on this educational journey. During the session, Prof Gurdev demonstrated the key principles of hydroponics, including nutrient solution management, pH regulation, and plant growth optimization. The students not only gained theoretical knowledge but also had the opportunity to observe the practical aspects of setting up and maintaining a hydroponic system.
They also learnt about the various types of crops that can be grown using this technique and the potential benefits it offers for sustainable agriculture. During the session, students had the chance to engage in hands-on activities, such as preparing nutrient solutions and adjusting pH levels. They also learnt about the different types of hydroponic systems available and how to choose the most suitable one for specific crops. Additionally, Prof Gurdev will share insights on the environmental advantages of hydroponics, such as water conservation and reduced pesticide use. Overall, this session will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the advancement of sustainable agriculture through hydroponics.
