Kishtwar Admin organises awareness drive against drug abuse at village, panchayat level

KISHTWAR, APRIL 29: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, the District Administration is intensifying its grassroots outreach to address drug abuse through a people-focused awareness drive held at the village and panchayat levels.

This widespread campaign, spanning all 13 administrative blocks of the district, has drawn active involvement from various segments of the community, including residents, students, teachers, youth groups and local influencers.

The central goal of the drive was to educate citizens about the harmful impact of drug misuse and to inspire collective efforts toward achieving a drug-free environment.

Pertinently, every Monday awareness sessions are being organized across different panchayats, featuring resource persons appointed by the administration which are from Health, Police, Education and Rural Development Department, among others.

The sessions aim to maintain continuous engagement and provide meaningful education on the dangers of drug abuse directly to rural populations.

Today’s focus was on conducting these awareness drives in educational institutions, making schools and colleges the epicenters of change and learning.

Throughout the day, dedicated nodal officers and Nodal agencies led impactful information-sharing activities in multiple villages across all 13 Blocks of Kishtwar District.

The overall events were organized under the guidance of DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed.
