Kishtwar: Forest trekking held from Watsar to Kamachhnaag Temple
KISHTWAR, JANUARY 12: Marwah Forest Division, in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar and Kishtwar Development Authority on Thursday successfully organized a Forest Trekking Event on the newly constructed Forest Trekking route, funded under the CAPEx Budget 2023-24.
The newly inaugurated Forest Trekking route from Watsar to Kamachhnaag Temple witnessed its official unveiling by Dr. Jatindra Kumar Singh, Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle Doda.
The event garnered participation from 35 online registrants and seven Forest trekkers from Jammu, adding to the vibrancy of the occasion.
The esteemed presence of the Indian Army’s 11 RR, led by Major Luckson Renie, further contributed to the success of the event.
Local youth and PRIs from Panchayat Chingam B, including Omparkash Thakur besides under the expertised guidance of Abilash Sharma and Dr Muzafar Ahmed Rather accompanied the trekking enthusiasts
Marwah Forest Division went the extra mile by creating a Camping site along the Forest Trekking route, featuring a shelter shed and wooden benches.
At the Camping site, local artists showcased their culture through performances and traditional songs, adding a cultural touch to the experience.
The trekking participants thoroughly enjoyed both the Forest Trekking and the cultural display at the Camping site. The trek culminated at the Kamachhnaag Temple, located 2 km away from the Camping site.
Post-trek, Vijay Kumar SFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Marwah, distributed certificates of participation, acknowledging and encouraging the forest trekkers.
DFO Marwah extended gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, and his team for their dedicated efforts in promoting Ecotourism in the region.
This successful collaboration not only promoted adventure tourism but also contributed to the burgeoning Eco-tourism sector in the area, fostering a sense of environmental awareness and appreciation among the participants.
