Kishtwar police crack online fraud, recover over Rs 1 lakh for victim
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) of the Kishtwar Police has successfully recovered Rs.1,29,450 defrauded from a resident through an online scam.
The victim, Tariq Hussain, reportedly received a link on the Telegram app advertising a work-from-home opportunity through a third-party app called ClerTrip. Trusting the offer, Hussain ended up sending money in installments, only to later realize it was a fraudulent scheme.

Taking swift action, the CIU team employed their technical expertise to trace the defrauded amount and secure its return to Hussain. This recovery adds to a growing success story for the CIU, bringing the total amount retrieved from online scams in Kishtwar to Rs. 7,16,446 so far this year.
District police officials urged the public to stay vigilant against online scams. They advised residents to report any suspicious activity to National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930 or CIU Kishtwar at 9103416100 or PCR Kishtwar at 9906154100, 9103454100.
