Kishtwar: Training Programme to Promote Flower Cultivation organised
KISHTWAR, March 17: The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare organised an awareness cum training Programme in collaboration with CSIR-India Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu here today. A large number of farmers and local PRI representatives participated in the programme, which was organised on the direction of District Development Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav.
The objective was to commercialise flower cultivation for the first time in the district. Seeds and corms of flowers like marigold and gladiolus were distributed among interested farmers free of cost. Dr Shahid Rasool gave detailed deliberations about the scope and importance of large-scale flower cultivation for economic upliftment.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Amjad Hussain Malik also stressed on diversification of flower cultivation by adopting an integrated farming approach. Various SHGs of NRLM were also covered under the programme. KVK Head, district officers and sub-divisional level officers were present on the occasion.
