Kolkata rape case: Law Minister likely to meet West Bengal Governor CV Bose
New Delhi [India], August 30 (ANI): Amid nationwide protest over the Kolkata Rape and murder case, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal is likely to meet West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose on Saturday in Delhi, said the source.
According to the Source, “Union Law Minister is likely to meet West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose in Delhi.
The Governor came to Delhi yesterday and met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday. He was supposed to return today only but due to this meet he is staying back”.
After the letter was received from the parents of the victim of the RG Kar horror, Governor rushed to Delhi and presented their grievances before the Home Minister. The Governor apprised the Home Minister of the gravity of the situation and the public protest against the ghastly incident. He is in frequent touch with the parents and the competent authorities.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday at his residence to discuss the law and order situation in the state in the light of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The meeting continued for nearly an hour and the governor briefed Amit Shah on the current situation in West Bengal.
It is presumed the law minister may Meet Governor over the latest letter of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Prime Minister Narender Modi demanding stronger legislation on crimes against women.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a second letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the lack of response to her earlier appeal for stronger legislation on crimes against women in the wake of a trainee Doctor’s rape and murder in Kolkata.
In her latest letter, a copy of which she also posted on X stating, “No reply was received from your end on such a sensitive issue”.
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the case, has conducted the second round of polygraph tests on Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. CBI officials have also conducted the polygraph test on the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy, in connection with the crime.
The CBI took over the investigation into the rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor of the state-run hospital following directions of Calcutta High Court.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ordered the security of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) while hearing the suo motu case concerning the incident. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Sandip Ghosh.
