Kulgam police arrests two bootleggers, recovers 34 bottles of illicit liquor
In a crackdown on illegal liquor sales, Kulgam Police apprehended two bootleggers and seized 34 bottles of illicit liquor during a patrol yesterday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Batingoo, Anantnag, and Amir Ahmad Sofi, from Gur Veeri, Anantnag.
The police party, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Qazigund, was conducting routine patrolling near Chaimula crossing when they spotted two suspicious individuals carrying gunny bags.

Upon inspection, the officers found the bags contained 34 bottles of illicit liquor.
Both Bhat and Sofi were promptly arrested and taken into custody. A case (FIR No. 154/2024) has been registered against them under Section 48 E of the Act at PS Qazigund. Presently, the investigation into the case is underway.
