KVK Anantnag initiates Skill Training programmes to empower Rural Youth
ANANTNAG, February 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, SKUAST-Kashmir has embarked on a significant initiative to enhance the skill set of rural youth through a series of training programmes under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) in collaboration with State Agricultural Management Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), DOE-SKUAST-Kashmir and MANAGE-Hyderabad.
These skill training programmes are specifically aimed to empower rural youth including women and tribals.
The first programme titled ‘Empowering Tribal Women through Artisan Skills’ commenced on 12 February, 2024 at Gujar Basti Zamalgam, Doru, marking the beginning of this impactful series. Today, another training programme titled ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Integrated Farming System (IFS)’ was held at KVK-Anantnag campus.
These initiatives are strategically designed under the guidance of Prof. Dil Mohammed Makdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, focusing on skill enhancement for entrepreneurial development among rural youth.
On the occasion, Raja Suhail, BPM, JKRLM (Umeed) Dooru in his address emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills for successful business ventures.
In his introductory lecture, Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Head, KVK-Anantnag emphasized the importance of such training initiatives in enhancing and strengthening the district’s skilled manpower.
He reiterated KVK Anantnag’s commitment to uplifting the socio-economic conditions of resource-poor farmers by nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit through knowledge and skill empowerment.
The programmes, spanning over seven days, feature a diverse range of activities including lectures by experts, practical handouts and exposure visits.
This concerted effort by KVK-Anantnag signifies a pivotal step towards fostering sustainable development and prosperity in rural communities.
