KVK Jammu working for uplift of SC Community in Bishnah: DDC Chairman Jammu
JAMMU, February 28: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the able leadership of Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor and guidance of Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu organised a one day programme on Multi-Stake Holders Agriculture cum Animal Clinical Camp under SCSP Project entitled “Augmenting Livelihood Opportunities for SC community of Bishnah Block” at Village Laswara on 28.02.2023.
The programme was organised with the objective to create mass awareness about different schemes of Agriculture and allied sectors alongwith providing on spot sollutions to various field problems and treatment of various diseases of milk animals.
Bharat Bhushan, DDC Chairman, Jammu was the chief guest and Dharmindra Kumar, DDC Bishnah was the guest of honor at the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan, DDC Chairman Jammu appreciated KVK Jammu for conducting such types of clinical camps in different Panchayats of Bishnah block. He further elaborated that farmers should get maximum benefits from the various agriculture and allied sector schemes being run by the UT government for their socio-economic uplift. He hailed the KVK Jammu for extending adequate handholding to the SC community of Bishnah for their uplift.
Dharmindra Kumar, DDC Member Bishnah briefed about the various activities being carried out by KVK Jammu for the last 02 years that are helpful in attaining expertise in various disciplines of farming including backyard poultry, Mushroom, Seed Production, Information Technology, Stitching and Tailoring, Dairy Farming, Vermicomposting etc.
Earlier, Dr. Punit Choudhary, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Jammu, welcomed the dignitaries, officers of the line departments and progressive farmers in the programme. He briefed about the objective of conducting such type of plant health and Animal Clinical Camp which are essential for upliftment of the farming community. During the programme, expert lectures were delivered by Dr. Kamlesh Bali, Arun Jalal, Navdeep Kour, Dr. A.K. Pandey and Dheeraj Gupta. An exhibition depicting various technologies by KVK, Department of Agriculture IFFCO Department of Fisheries, Department of Horticulture and Private companies were also organised on the occasion. More than 100 animal cases were treated with the help of a team of qualified veterinary surgeons and PG students from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry SKUAST-Jammu, free of cost medicines and small farm tools & implements were also distributed among the farmers as need based interventions.
The team of KVK Jammu including Dr. Prem Kumar, Dr. Amitesh Sharma, Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Badyal, Ashish Katoch, Dr. Raju Gupta, S. Satbir Singh, Sahil Talgotra helped in the smooth conduct of the programme.
Padamdev Singh, Sarpanch Laswara thanked KVK Jammu for organising such a massive programme for the benefit of the farming community in the Panchayat.
