Labour Department & Child Welfare Committee conducts inspection to check child labour in Rajouri Market
RAJOURI, AUGUST 13: Labour Department Rajouri conducted a drive to check engagement of child labour if any at old bus stand Rajouri and near by areas. Drive was conducted jointly by Labour department and Social welfare department following the directions from National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Pradyot Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner and Abdul Raheem, District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri. Surprise inspections were carried out in shops, restaurants, dhabas, street- stalls, and workshops. The inspection team comprising of Labour Officer Neeraj Kumar, Jr. Asstt. Asif Amin, CWC member Zulfqar Ali, Supervisor Shahid Iqbal Child Helpline Representative members and Gohar Rehman, stressed that strict action will be taken against those violating Child Protection Laws.
These inspections led to the rescue of one minor, highlighting the urgency and significance of the initiative and aware public about the harmful effects of child labour and informed the community about various available welfare schemes.
The primary focus was to identify instances of child labour and aware business owners and the public about child rights, the implications of child labour, and the legal consequences for those employing children under the age of 18.
