Labour Department Kishtwar organises awareness programme on Labour Laws, menace of Child Labour
Rs 36.65 lakh education allowance provided to wards of registered workers
KISHTWAR, JUNE 10: The Labour Department, in collaboration with Islamia Faridia College of Education and Research Institute, organized awareness on Labour Laws and the menace of Child Labour.
Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Veenakshi Koul graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The DLC also distributed Education Assistance allowance totaling Rs 36.65 Lacs among registered labourers, aimed at supporting the educational needs of their wards.
Prominent attendees included Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar, Mohammad Idrees Lone, Principal of Islamia Faridia College, Mahboob Qazi, Labour Inspector Sunil Kumar, the staff of the Labour Department and students of the college.
Addressing the audience, Veenakshi Koul highlighted the importance of labour laws and shed light on the pressing issue of child labour prevailing in the society. She emphasized that students play a pivotal role as ambassadors in dissemination of awareness about the various beneficiary schemes available for the labour class. She urged them to actively participate in eradicating the menace of child labour from the society.
She reiterated the commitment of Labour Department to work towards the betterment of the labour community and assured that it will continue to organize such initiatives in the future.
The ALC Kishtwar and other functionaries present at the event also delivered insightful speeches, encouraging the students to actively spread awareness about the different education, medical, and healthcare schemes specifically designed for Labourers and their families.
This event served as a platform to acknowledge the significance of labour laws, promote educational opportunities for labourers, and raise awareness about the detrimental impact of child labour on society.
