Labour Department Ramban provides Rs 13.50 lakh injury compensation to construction worker
RAMBAN, February 24: The Labour Department Ramban today awarded an injury compensation of Rs 13.50 lakh to Satish Chand Sharma, who was working with the Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.
Satish Chand Sharma, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh suffered an injury on his leg during the course of employment which exacerbated to permanent disability in 2018. The injured was working in J&K since 1997 for a span of over 20 years till 2017.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ramban Dr Sushant Mahajan, handed over the cheque of compensation amount to the worker under the building and other construction workers welfare scheme which aims to provide financial assistance to workers in the construction sector.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner also interacted with the family of the injured person, expressed his grief over the incident and motivated the injured to pursue a positive approach for the future. He also emphasized the importance of providing adequate support to workers in the construction sector.
Dr Sushant Mahajan also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to ensure the welfare of workers in the construction sector, including the provision of health and safety measures at worksites and the establishment of a database of registered workers to ensure that they receive timely and adequate support.
