Ladakh Police deploys comprehensive rescue & rehabilitation efforts in Leh town
Leh, July 22: The Quick Response Team (QRT) of Police & UTDRF, Ladakh Police has deployed all men & materials of Ladakh Police including Police Offices staff, UTDRF, Traffic Police, Fire & Emergency equipment to carry out various rescue & rehabilitation works in Leh town, especially at Khakshal, Sanker, Skampari, Chubi, Zangsti, & Main market Gonpa Soma areas.
It was informed that the deployments of men & material of police personnel have been done after conducting a thorough assessment of damages caused due to the unprecedented flash floods caused on the intervening night of July 21/22 in the Leh town area.
Senior Police officers of Ladakh police headed by ADGP, Dr. S D Singh Jamwal-IPS, DIG, Sheikh Junaid-IPS; SP Leh, Nitya-IPS;CO IR 25th, BN/ AIG (Pers), Stanzin Nurboo-JKPS, SP Traffic, ; Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman-JKPS; SP UTDRF, Pardeep Singh- JKPS and other officers have been supervising and carrying out the rescue works since last night on July 21 in coordination with civil volunteers, other departments and security forces.
Due to the timely response by Ladakh Police and UT administration, there has been no report of casualties and fatalities during the flash floods till date. The rescue works are still going on a war footing basis.
Police personnel of Ladakh Police are also engaged and working on various rescue works and facilitating civilians and civil administration in other remote parts of Ladakh including Leh & Kargil which are affected by the unprecedented rainfall and flash flood.
Further, Ladakh Police is requesting the general public, civil societies, and volunteers of various organizations to come forward to cooperate, support and join Police/Administration for rescue works so that normal life and traffic regulations can be resumed at the earliest.
