Lecture on “EAT HEALTHY, STAY HEALTHY” on 3rd Day of Winter Camp at adopted village Changran, Kathua
Kathua, Dec 30: A Lecture was organized by NSS unit of Government Degree College for women in Kathua on the theme of “EAT HEALTHY, STAY HEALTHY”. On occasion, Dr Sangita Nagari, esteemed Principal of the College, was the Chief Guest. The lecture was delivered by Prof Ashwani Khajuria, Head, Department of Food Science, GDCW, Kathua.
The speaker highlighted about the negative effects of consuming an excess of preserved, processed and packaged food being consumed by the masses. He also motivated the NSS volunteers, the local people of the village, and the Children of the locality regarding the rights of the consumer.
He suggested the gathering to avoid food products rich in carbohydrates, Fats, Sodium, Trans Fatty Acids and Additives to maintain a sound health. He stressed upon the usage of homemade and natural products directly procured from the nature like Fresh Vegetable & Fruits, Fresh Chakki Atta and consumption of Millets, which are much beneficial for our digestive and immune system. During the interactive session certain facts regarding consumption of Vanaspati Ghee, Dairy and Bakery Products were discussed.
The entire programme was managed under the patronage of Dr Sangita Nagari esteemed Principal of the College and supported and regulated by Dr Arun Dev Singh NSS Programme Officer . He extended his special thanks and gratitude to Sh Romesh Kumar respected Sarpanch of the village Changran and local people residing in the village who really supported wholeheartedly to the College administration for organizing such camps and making them aware regarding the healthy food habits.
