LG Manoj Sinha stands firm amid governance controversy, emphasizing developmental achievements

Sahil Pandita: “I know my limits and I will never cross them,” asserted Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, firmly denying accusations of going beyond his authority in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the recent uproar over the transfer of 48 Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officers, Sinha clarified, “Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act in 2019, and I want to emphasize that I have operated within the boundaries set by that Act”. His comments, which surfaced in a widely circulated video, come amid rising political tensions with the Omar Abdullah Government.

In defending his constitutional role, Sinha also took the chance to highlight the region’s progress across various sectors. He pointed to the historic opening of the JammuBaramulla railway line, which now links the Valley directly to the rest of the nation and the introduction of the Vande Bharat train to boost connectivity and tourism.

He mentioned that agriculture and related industries are experiencing an emerging revolution, power reforms are advancing rapidly, and infrastructure projects are being closely monitored through the new DAKSH portal. He also praised the University of Jammu for achieving an A++ NAAC accreditation and emphasized improvements in school education, highlighting the sports infrastructure, which has also been developing over time.

Sinha remarked that peace is gradually returning to the region, with a significant drop in terrorism-related incidents. “Development can only thrive in a peaceful environment, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing today,” he stated.

By balancing clear governance with a forward-thinking development agenda, Sinha’s message was unmistakable: he is dedicated to staying within constitutional limits while steering Jammu and Kashmir toward sustainable progress.
