LG Manoj Sinha to Inaugurate Tawi Filmotsva 2025 at Abhinav Theatre

Jammu, March 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate “ Tawi Filmotsva” being organized by Jammu Kashmir Cine Association (JKCA) on March 23, 2025 at Abhinav Theatre.

As per the communiqué received from Raj Bhavan, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Singh will grace the occasion as chief guest on the function and inaugurate ‘Tawi Filmotsva’ which will be attended by many luminaries from the field of art, literature and education.

In this regard , JKCA president Dharminder Kohli and Secretary Dr Amarjeet Singh met Lt Governor Manoj Sinha at his Raj Bhawan office and discussed in length the events to be held at Tawi Filmotsva . LG Sinha appreciated the role of association in taking up such initiatives that may bring talented artists under one canopy.

The Tawi Filmotsva is a short film festival being organized by Jammu Kashmir Cine Association, the premier organization of JKUT which intends to provide a platform to the filmmakers of Jammu and Kashmir UT to showcase their talent in various aspects of the film making.

Speaking on the occasion, JKCA President Dharminder Kohli emphasized that this initiative marks a pioneering effort in the region by offering cash rewards to winners. He expressed confidence that the festival would attract a large number of participants, setting a new benchmark for cultural and artistic expression in the UT.

The prize structure includes a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the top winner, followed by Rs 7,000 for the first runner-up and Rs 5,000 for the second runner-up. Apart from these main prizes, several other cash awards will be distributed across various categories to make the festival a truly unique and competitive event. The grand festival is scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 23, at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

A distinguished panel of judges, appointed by JKCA, will evaluate all submissions. Their final decisions will be binding, with no objections entertained at any stage. The results will be declared on the same day, ensuring a transparent and exciting conclusion to the festival.

JKCA’s initiative aims to provide a dynamic platform for filmmakers, artists, and creative professionals in Jammu and Kashmir to showcase their talent. By hosting a festival of this scale, the association aspires to encourage emerging talent while simultaneously promoting the region’s rich cultural heritage through the medium of cinema.
