Liberal with lies—Mehbooba misleading people on PMAY: Kavinder

JAMMU July 6.Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Thursday castigated PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti for inciting the people in J&K on the issue of land to landless under PM Awas Yojna (PMAY), by twisting facts and concocting baseless stories.

In a statement issued to media fraternity, the BJP stalwart said that Mehbooba is generous towards lies and economical with truth as she is spreading canards to mislead people on the issue of government’s benevolent scheme to provide homes to homeless and land to landless. He said that Mehbooba has brazenly spoken lies to incite the people against the government by claiming that outsiders are being settled in the UT under the guise of PMAY.

It is pertinent to mention that J&K Government has come out with clarification that there is no truth in the accusations leveled by the former chief minister belonging to PDP.

Kavinder said that the claims of Mehbooba are unfounded and meant to mislead the common man. He said that people of the UT and for that matter the entire country should remain cautious of such so-called people’s representatives because these could stoop too low to satiate their vested political interests.   He said that Mehbooba belonged to that class of politicians who can lie or twist the truth with confidence and conviction however outlandish their claim may be.

Kavinder said that politicians like Mehbooba use lying as a means to achieve their personal objectives—to gain political mileage, to achieve some personal gain, win people over during elections or hide misdeeds. “The objective invariably is the selfish pursuit of a personal agenda”, he said and appealed to the people to always cross check the statements made by such politicians before responding in public or even private.
