Literary Club, Jammu University organises “Andaaz-e-Nigaarish: A Multilingual Writing Workshop”
Jammu, April 09– A three-day workshop for amateur writers, “Andaaz-e-Nigaarish: A Multilingual Writing Workshop organised by The Literary Club under the aegis of Utsaah, the Clubs commenced at University of Jammu. Mr. Pritam Katoch, an eminent stage, radio, and television artist as well as writer, is the resource person for the three-day long writing initiative. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Dean Faculty of Arts & Head, Department of English, University of Jammu.
Resource person for the workshop, Pritam Katoch, while addressing the gathering emphasised the relevance of having young ignited minds with innate talent in such initiatives for the furthering of the literary traditions through passing on the baton to the next generation. In her presidential address Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Head, Department of English, University of Jammu congratulated the Literary Club, University of Jammu for the organisation of the three-day literary initiative. In her address, she also discussed some of the nuances of writing. Earlier, Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, Club Cluster, University of Jammu in her welcome address, appreciated the commendable effort on the part of the Literary Club in encouraging, shaping, and nurturing of the young minds in order to turn their raw-latent-talent into a well-defined skill.
She expressed a need for directing such talent towards a meaningful direction. She emphasised on the inherent nature of such talent and expressed a wish to see great writers emerge from this workshop. Ms. Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu formally introduced Pritam Katoch to the audience and congratulated him for his four decades of work and stressed on the importance of practical learning through such workshops. The programme concluded with the concluding remarks and the official vote of thanks being offered by Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club, University of Jammu.It is to mention that the workshop has garnered a diverse set of student participation from across the 39 departments of the University.
The objective of holding this workshop is to provide a platform to the students to hone on their latent writing talent. The smooth functioning of the programme was facilitated by the members of TheLiterary Club, University of Jammu.Among others Dr.Ravinder Singh, Dr. Garima Gupta, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Mr. Raj Kumar, and Dr. Pallavi Gupta were present on the occasion.
