Literary function to observe ‘International Mother Tongue Day’ held at BHSS Sogam
KUPWARA, February 21: On the eve of International Mother Tongue Day, the Anjuman-i-Adab-wa-Saqafat Lolab (AASL), in collaboration with Department of Information & PR, Kupwara today organized a literary Conference at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Sogam in Kupwara district.
The conference comprised of two sessions viz. Seminar and Mehfil-i-Mushaira.
The Seminar was presided over by renowned writer and poet Mohammad Yousuf Mashoor while as Mushaira was presided over by Patron of the AASL, Sogam Sultan Shooq. The programme was conducted by Irshad-abni-Mukhtar.
The speakers on the occasion said that mother tongue is the identity of a person and everyone should work for its preservation. They said that teachers and parents can play a vital role in preserving the mother tongue.
Other speakers highlighted the importance of mother tongue in improving of learning skills of a child. They said that the mother tongue is the easiest way to communicate with our surroundings and is instrumental in the learning process of a child.
The young poet ilyas Armaan, A.T lolabi, Raashid Manzoor, Nasir Masroor, Ashraf Adil, Altaf Aariz, Nadeem Maqbool, Sheikh Farooq sogami, Ishrat saaki, Hasan Ajmi, Mosin Manzoor, Farooq Shaheen, Ab Ahad Haami, Irshad ibn Mukhtar, Amin Asraar and others participated in the Mushaira.
The Principal of the BHSS, Sogam, DIO, literary persons, senior poets and writers of the area participated in the function.
