LMD conducts market checking at Sumbal, realises fine of Rs.1900

BANDIPORA, February 23: A team of the Legal Metrology Department headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology today imposed a fine of Rs. 1900 on four erring shopkeepers during an inspection of market places of Sumbal and adjacent areas.

The team conducted inspections of various shops out of which 4 shops were found violating Legal Metrology laws.

The defaulters were booked and a fine of Rs 1900 was imposed on spot on erring traders.

During the drive the shopkeepers were made aware regarding single window online services provided by the Department.

Officials said 20 number of traders were got online verification for their weighing and measuring instruments etc.

The officials of LMD informed that the department is keeping strict watch on all markets of the district and urged owners of business establishments to follow rules and regulations without fail.
