Says justice served, dream of ‘One Nation One Constitution’ fulfilled

JAMMU, December 11: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, M.K Ajatshatru Singh today lauded the Supreme Court’s verdict upholding the abrogation of Article 370, calling it a “historic moment” for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued here today, the former minister said more than seven decades, the people of Jammu region, especially several communities, were deprived of their fundamental rights due to this controversial Article. “Several political parties like National Conference, PDP, and others misled the people and used Article 370 as a tool for their vested interests,” he said.

M.K Ajatshatru Singh lauded the bold decision of the Modi government to abrogate Article 370 on August 5, 2019, calling it a courageous and decisive step that was long overdue. He said, “The Modi government’s commitment to national integration and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is truly commendable. Under their leadership, J&K has witnessed unprecedented development across various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and tourism. This clearly demonstrates the positive impact of removing Article 370 and the immense potential of Jammu and Kashmir to thrive within the framework of the Indian Constitution.”

“Today, the Supreme Court has delivered justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The dream of ‘One Nation, One Constitution’ has finally been fulfilled. This verdict paves the way for a brighter future for the region, free from discrimination and injustice,” he said.

The senior BJP leader expressed his confidence that the abrogation of Article 370 will bring about positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to greater integration with the rest of India, social and economic development, and a more secure environment for all citizens. He urged all political parties to work together to ensure the full implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict and contribute to the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
