Mallikarjun Kharge writes to PM Modi, calls for strict action over NDA leaders remarks on Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi [India], September 17 (ANI): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for strict action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders who made controversial remarks about Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
In his letter to PM Modi, Kharge highlighted that the violent language used by leaders of the BJP and its allied parties is dangerous for the country’s future.
“The world is shocked that the Minister of State for Railways in the Central Government, a minister from BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, is calling the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha the ‘number one terrorist.’ In Maharashtra, an MLA from an allied party in your government has announced a reward for cutting off the tongue of the Leader of the Opposition. In Delhi, a BJP leader and former MLA is threatening to ‘do to him what was done to Indira Gandhi,'” Kharge said.
“I urge you to rein in such leaders through discipline and decorum. Strict legal action should be taken against such statements to prevent the decline of Indian politics,” he added.

Addressing the media afterwards, Kharge emphasised that BJP leaders must control their language.

“I want to draw PM Narendra Modi’s attention to the uncivilised remarks made by NDA leaders against Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi. The MoS for Railways and a UP minister have called Rahul Gandhi a terrorist. They need to exercise restraint. One leader even suggested that Rahul Gandhi’s fate would be similar to that of his grandmother. Such statements are encouraging others to adopt the same tone. I urge PM Narendra Modi to impose limits on what his party leaders can say. Strict action should be taken, and these leaders should be expelled from the party,” Kharge said.

This follows Union MoS Ravneet Singh Bittu’s remarks, where he suggested that Rahul Gandhi is not Indian and if an award for catching the “number one terrorist” existed, it should go to Rahul Gandhi.
“Rahul Gandhi is not Indian; he has spent most of his time abroad. He does not love his country because he goes overseas and criticises India. His words have been praised by separatists and those involved in making bombs and weapons. Those who try to blow up planes, trains, and roads are supporting Rahul Gandhi. He is the country’s number one terrorist and the biggest enemy whom the agencies should catch,” Bittu said.

Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad had also offered a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who cuts off Gandhi’s tongue.

He said, “Rahul Gandhi’s statement has revealed the true face of the Congress. During the Lok Sabha elections, they sought votes by claiming the Constitution was in danger, suggesting the BJP would change it. Now, in America, he has said that the reservation system created by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar would be dismantled. These words came from his mouth. I will give Rs 11 lakh to whoever cuts off his tongue.”
