Mandeep Kour chairs Public Darbar at Baramulla; Listens Public Demands, Grievances Pertaining to Developmental Aspirations
Such Initiatives Bridges Gap between Admin and People, Fosters Govt ‘s Ambition of Providing Governance at Door Step
BARAMULLA, October 30: In an initiative to reach out to people to take stock of public grievances and development activities in the district, Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mandeep Kour today visited Baramulla and presided over a day long Public Darbar at Dak Bungalow here.
Chairperson, District Development Council Baramulla, Safeena Beigh, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Director RDD, Shabir Hussain Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure, Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, ADC Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Planning, M.Yousuf Rather, ACR, SDMs other PRIs besides social activists and locals attended the Public Darbar.
It’s apt to mention that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has deployed the Administrative Secretaries to conduct Public Darbars in the assigned Districts to hear and redress the grievances of the general public.
During the day long Public Darbar, an open discussion was held wherein PRIs and general public presented their demands and grievances for speedy disposal.
The main demands and grievances put forth by the PRIs and general public were Pertaining to various departments including Jal Shakti, R&B, PDD, Education, Health, Social Welfare and other concerned Departments for which they sought the intervention of the Commissioner Secretary for its early redressal.
While taking cognizance of the grievances raised by the general public, the Commissioner Secretary reiterated that all grievances will be taken up with the concerned quarters for timely and early action.
Highlighting the significance of Public outreach programme, Mandeep Kour said that main aim of conducting Public Darbar is to have a convergent bridge between the administration and the people. The theme of Public Darbar is administration at door step, she added.
Addressing the occasion, Commissioner Secretary said that Baramulla district is speedily progressing in terms of growth and development and stressed on public service delivery with accountability and transparency in a time-bound manner while asking officers and PRIs to contribute towards society’s growth and development.
Safeena Beigh also highlighted the significance of Public grievance redressal camp and assured the completion of developmental projects of the area in a time bound manner. She said all the directions and suggestions have already been passed to all the concerned officers with regard to the early completion of projects.
Meanwhile, in the opening ceremony of Public Darbar, Chairperson DDC Baramulla, Commissioner Secretary and DC Baramulla took inspection of stalls installed by various departments during ongoing Public Darbar at the venue.
Integrity pledge was also administered to all concerned stakeholders to make transparent and corruption free nation, with an idea to practice commitment to this year’s theme, ‘Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’.
Later, in a separate officers meeting held in the meeting hall of Dak Bungalow regarding the issues raised during Public Darbar, the Commissioner Secretary took a detailed overview of all the developmental works being appraised by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.
After taking sector wise progress, the Commissioner Secretary issued on spot directions to all the concerned officers to complete all the pending projects in a time bound manner besides redressal of all the issues of the general public. She asked DC to take a follow up status from all the departments regarding the directions issued during the meeting.
