Manjit Singh demands intervention of LG to end discrimination with Mahasha community
Seeks removal of ‘Doom’ word from ‘Mahasha’ certificates
JAMMU, DECEMBER 22: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today demanded intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to direct administration to end injustice with the sub-caste of Schedule Caste Community.
In a statement to the press, S. Manjit Singh said that the administration has adopted a discriminatory approach towards the Mahasha community which belongs to SC Community.
“However, the administration is issuing certificates in their favour by adding Doom (word) alongwith Mahasha community when any certificate is issued to the concerned person. It is an attempt to undermine their right which should be condemned in strongest words,” he said.
He said that, “There is a strong resentment among the Mahasha community against the administration as this practice has been continuing for over six months and they have demanded to end issuing certificates for the Mahasha community by adding Doom.”
“The Doom should not be added in the Mahasha certificates as it’s an injustice and the authorities should start the old practice instead of continuing with new procedure which is not in favour of Mahasha Community,” he said and demanded intervention of LG so that the administration can be directed to avoid this discrimination with the Mahasha community.
Meanwhile, SC State Coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat said that if the administration did not stop its discriminatory approach and end this practice, the Apni Party leaders and workers would come on the roads.
“The Mahasha community is unable to understand why they are being neglected by adding the Doom in the same certificate in an unjustified manner,” he added.
