Mari Mati Mara Desh’: Agriculture department conducts Awareness programme at Sagam Kokernag
G.I Tagging of Mushkbudji will boost the product at national, international level: Director
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11: In Celebration of the 75 years of India’s Independence, a mega Awareness programme under the aegis ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ was today held at Sagam Kokernag.
The awareness programme was inaugurated by the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director emphasised the importance of ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign. He asked the officers/officials of the department that the best way to celebrate the event would be to work in complete coordination with the farming community of the region.
He asked them to put in every possible effort for the development and prosperity of the agriculture sector. He also assured the farmers that the department would be there for them, during their every endeavour to achieve success in the field of agriculture.
Director Agriculture said that the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign is aimed at invoking feelings of patriotism and unity in the hearts of people and promoting a sense of respect for the soil of the nation and symbols of countries’ independence.
Director Agriculture congratulated the people of Sagam and adjacent areas for G.I tagging of Mushkbudji rice. He said after G.I tagging only the authorised user has the exclusive rights to use the geographical indication in relation to this aromatic rice.
He said this will boost the product not only at national level but also at international level. It will increase the export and thereby promote economic prosperity of producers, related stakeholders and will contribute to GDP of the country.
Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Ajaz Hussain Dar and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
