Market Checking held at Dooru; Rs 6k fine imposed on erring traders
ANANTNAG, JULY 12: In view of upcoming Muharam ul Haram and to prevent overcharging, hoarding and other unfair trade practices, a team of officers led by the Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Dooru, Parvaiz Rahim today conducted an extensive Market checking and imposed fine on erring traders.
Sub Divisional Magistrate along with officers from allied departments viz. FCS&CA, Municipal Committee Dooru etc carried out intensive market checking drives to ensure fair pricing and quality assurance in local markets, with a strong focus on curbing overcharging and the sale of substandard food items.
During the market checking, numerous cases of overcharging were discovered, where traders were found exploiting the market conditions and charging exorbitant prices for essential goods and commodities. As a consequence, strict penalties and fines of Rs. 6000 were realised from defaulters.
SDM urged all stakeholders, including traders, business owners, and consumers, to uphold ethical practices, transparency, and accountability.
