Market Checking held at Handwara
KUPWARA, MARCH 17: In pursuance to the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Handwara and to curb overpricing, profiteering, and black marketing, an intensive market-checking drive was conducted in Handwara.
The drive aimed to ensure that all essential commodities are sold at government-approved rates while maintaining quality and hygiene standards.
During the inspection, fine was imposed on shopkeepers found violating norms, failing to maintain hygiene and not adhering to legal requirements. The checking team also assessed the sanitation and hygiene conditions of meat sellers, cheese vendors, and chicken sellers to ensure compliance with health and safety standards as per court directions.
The drive was conducted in collaboration with Food Safety Department, Municipal Committee Handwara, and other allied departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Handwara emphasized that the primary objective of the drive was to safeguard consumer interests by ensuring the availability of genuine, high-quality products at fair prices.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining transparency and hygiene in the market, ensuring a seamless and satisfactory shopping experience for the public.
