“Matter of pride”: Maharashtra CM Shinde on Shivaji Maharaj statue to be installed in J&K’s Kupwara
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 20 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday said it is a matter of pride that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is to be installed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
CM Shinde thanked the Aamhi Punekar Foundation, an NGO and also the Minister of Culture for taking the initiative. He added that this will inspire the soldiers who protect the country at the Line of Control (LOC).
“This is very historic. A statue will be installed in Kupwara. It will be en route today after puja. This is a matter of pride. I thank the Aamhi Punekar Foundation. I also thank the Minister of Culture and his team for taking the initiative. This statue will inspire our soldiers who protect our country,” CM Shinde said.
The statue has been built in collaboration with the ‘Aamhi Punekar Foundation’ and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti. It will be handed over to the Rashtriya Rifles 41 Maratha Light Infantry Regiment based in Kupwara for the installation at a memorial to be built there.
Earlier today, Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais and CM Shinde flagged off a vehicle carrying the statue. (ANI)
