MD JJM for pacing up execution of Water Supply projects in Kupwara

SRINAGAR, APRIL 29: Mission Director (MD), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Shah today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of JJM in district Kupwara.

The meeting was apprised about the various components under execution through a powerpoint presentation. As per the figures, the district comprises 355 villages with 1, 56,179 rural households out of which 1, 29,755 households have been provided with Functional Household Connections (FHTC’s).

MD directed the concerned officers to speed up the pace of execution of water supply schemes so that the remaining 26,000 odd households are provided with FHTC’s soon.

The meeting was informed about the failure of nine bore wells due to no or less discharge, impeding the progress in scheme completion.

Shah sought response from the Executive Engineer, Ground Water Division, Srinagar who informed the chair that letter of intent for these wells has been issued and the contractor has mobilized the machinery.

MD directed the Executive Engineer, Ground Water to personally monitor the drilling of these bore wells in coordination with Superintending Engineer, concerned.

While reviewing the timelines for various works, MD inquired about non-starter of General Service Reservoir’s (GSR’s) in the Keran sector. He was assured that the allotments have been issued, and with the improvement of weather the works on these GSRs will be started within a week’s time.

MD directed the Executive Engineers to certify all Har Ghar Jal (HGJ) reported villages as a large number of HGJ reported villages remain uncertified. He directed Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Kupwara to personally monitor the certification of reported HGJ villages.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer, (Hydraulic) circle Kupwara, Executive Engineers of field divisions, AEEs and JEs besides their counterparts from the Mechanical wing through virtual mode.
