Members of JKRLM Women SHGs rally across Reasi appealing people to vote

REASI, SEPTEMBER 17: Mega voter Awareness rallies were today taken out across District Reasi by the members of women Self Help Groups(SHGs) in collaboration with District Election office as part of the “Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation” (SVEEP) initiative. The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 5000 women of Self Help Groups.


The aim was to reach the voters to maximize voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024. Women from SHGs also carried their handmade products like bamboo and grass baskets inscribed with slogans “my vote my pride written.” SVEEP team, led by Nodal Officer Sachin Sharma, imparted comprehensive insights into the electoral process, encouraging all women to participate in the democratic process and cast their votes on 25 September 2024.


The SVEEP Team laid emphasis on various measures taken by the District Election Office to make voting accessible to women, availability of home voting for specially-abled and senior citizens aged 85 yrs and above, ensuring inclusivity in the voting process. Additionally, detailed information was also provided regarding the Saksham-ECI app for PwDs.


The program culminated with massive rallies across different locations of Reasi promoting active voter participation for a higher voter turnout in the elections. District Programme Manager, Jugal Magotra, SHG members, First time girl voters and Officials of the Social Welfare Department were present.
