‘Meri Mitti, Mera Desh’: Wushu Championship-2023 concludes at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, August 8: District Bandipora Wushu Championship-2023 organised by District Wushu Association Bandipora in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora concluded today at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Ajas Bandipora.
The event witnessed an impressive turnout of approximately 330 participants, including both boys and girls from all age categories representing different schools and clubs of Bandipora district.
The outcome of the event was 24 gold medals, 24 silver medals and 30 bronze medals for all participants.
At the end of the event, Syed Jaffar ud din Bukhari Memorial Islamic Public School Ajas was awarded Ist position with 9 Gold medals, while as Govt. Hr. Secondary School Ajas was awarded 2nd position with 3 gold medals.
Many athletes in this event were selected for the upcoming UT level Wushu championship 2023 which is scheduled later this year.
The District Bandipora Wushu Association is a recognized governing body dedicated to the promotion and development of Wushu in the region. Committed to nurturing young talent and fostering a culture of sportsmanship, the association organizes various events, championships, and training programs to propel the growth of Wushu in district Bandipora.
The closing ceremony of the event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests and dignitaries. Chief Guest of the event was Major Abhinav Joshi 13RR Delta Company. Accompanying him was the Guest of Honor, Principal Govt. Hr. Secondary School Ajas Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad Wani. The occasion was also honored by the presence of Padmashree Awardee Shri Faisal Ali Dar and other notable personalities.
Addressing the participants, chief guest, emphasized the global popularity of Wushu as a sport. He expressed his delight at the decision to hold the championship in Ajas, recognizing its potential to encourage youth participation in sports and steer them away from negative influences of drugs and other social evils.
He acknowledged the excellent performance of Bandipora in the realm of sports and believed that this championship would serve as an inspiration to other districts.
Furthermore, he assured unwavering support from their side for such events, fostering an environment conducive to the holistic development of young athletes across Jammu and Kashmir.
