Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj seeks explanation from Chief Secy Naresh about his claim of pending decisions

New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): The Delhi Minister for Urban Development, Saurabh Bhardwaj, has sought an explanation from Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar about his claims of pending decisions and directed him to spell out what decisions have been pending.

He also referred to a note issued from his office on July 29.

Minister Bharadwaj has directed CS Naresh Kumar to submit third-party audit reports of desilting by various departments.

In an official statement, the Minister for Urban Development said, ” Please refer to the note no. 1896/TS, dated July 29, 2024, issued from the office of the Chief Secretary. This note is in response to the Magisterial Enquiry ordered by the Hon’ble Minister (Revenue) with regard to the incident of the deaths of three IAS aspirants that took place in the Rajinder Nagar area on July 27, 2024″.

“In para no. 5.2 of the aforesaid note of the Chief Secretary, it has been claimed that some decisions are pending on the part of the undersigned. The Hon’ble LG House had also planted the same claim in the media, yesterday. Today, the undersigned called ACS (I&FC) and the Chief Engineer (I&FC) to understand which decisions are pending in this file. It was categorically told to the undersigned that no decision is pending on this file and after the approval dated March 14, 2024, the Department. went ahead with the recommendations. Therefore, the Chief Secretary is directed to clearly spell out what decision with respect to the file, which has been claimed in para 5.2 is pending on the part of the undersigned,” the statement added.

“Chief Secretary is also directed to explain, how this para 5.2 is related to the enquiry report ordered by Minister (Revenue) with regard to the incident of deaths taken place in Rajinder Nagar area on 27.07.2024,” it added.

The statement further added, “The undersigned has directed the Chief Secretary a couple of times for conducting a third-party audit of desilting, which was carried out by all the agencies. Chief Secretary is hereby directed to provide the third-party audit report to the undersigned by August 7, 2024. (In the earlier note, the date was mistyped as 31.08.2024)”.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar submitted a general inquiry report to Delhi Minister Atishi on Tuesday, following the deaths of three UPSC aspirants who drowned in the flooded basement library of a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar.
