Mission Director NHM Dr Motup Dorje, launches IMI 5.0 at subcentre Chuchot Gongma

Leh, August 7: Fifth phase of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 – a nationwide immunization drive was launched today at Sub Centre, Chuchot Gongma by Mission Director NHM, Dr Motup Dorje.

The drive aimed to protect children and pregnant women from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Dr Motup Dorje highlighted the importance of vaccination for preventing diseases and saving lives and added that vaccination is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions and has averted millions of deaths and disabilities worldwide.

He urged the audience to support and cooperate with the health department in order to achieve good healthcare results.

Further, he appreciated the efforts of the health workers and the community members for their dedication and enthusiasm in making IMI 5.0 a success.

Earlier SIO, Dr Dolma Chuskit in her welcome address explained that IMI 5.0 will run for a week in the first round, from August 7 to August 14. During this period, children aged 0-5 years and pregnant women will be covered under the immunization drive.

She said that the aim of IMI 5.0 is to achieve full immunization coverage in the UT of Ladakh and to ensure that no child or pregnant woman is left behind.

Mission Director, NHM Dr Motup Dorje vaccinated a 9-month-old baby at the sub-centre during the launch of IMI 5.0 and certificates were also distributed to the beneficiaries registered online at U-Win Portal- a digital platform for real-time monitoring and reporting of immunization activities.

Mission Director added that U-Win Portal will help in ensuring data quality and transparency in the immunization programme.
