Mission Youth: DC Kishtwar Launches Cricket Trials for Young Players
KISHTWAR, March 19: In a bid to nurture young talent and promote the sport of cricket, the District Administration has collaborated with the Youth Services & Sports Department to organise a two-day Cricket Trial & Coaching Session. The event, held at Chowgan Ground in Kishtwar, was aimed at budding cricketers in the under-14 and under-17 age groups.
The session was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav IAS, who was joined by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kharati Lal Sharma and guest coaches including Ranji Trophy Batsman Shubham Khajuria and Ranji Trophy Bowler Akash Choudhary.
Speaking at the event, Dr Yadav described it as a “golden opportunity” for young cricketers to learn from experienced professionals and develop their skills. He encouraged aspiring players to embrace professionalism in their approach to the game.
The initiative is part of Mission Youth activities aimed at providing opportunities for self-development and growth among young people. Selected players from the trial sessions will receive free coaching from sponsored academies in UT where they will have access to top-level training facilities and expert coaching staff.
Dr Yadav expressed his belief that the coaching sessions would provide young players with a wealth of opportunities to excel in the game of cricket. During the event, boys and girls were given demonstrations by experts on various techniques and tips for playing professional cricket and maintaining fitness. Around 400 boys and girls, as well as sports teachers and staff from YSS, benefited from the guidance session.
The trial and coaching sessions were carried out by Ranji Trophy Batsman Shubham Khajuria, Ranji Trophy Bowler Akash Choudhary and Strength and Conditioning Coach Sunny Verma. The sessions will continue tomorrow with more valuable coaching tips and techniques being shared with aspiring cricket players.
