Monthly NCORD meeting held at Kupwara
DC emphasizes on Zero Tolerance policy against drugs
KUPWARA, JANUARY 31: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Gh. Nabi Bhat on Wednesday chaired a District Level meeting on Prevention of Drug Abuse & Narcotics Trade (NCORD) at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here.
The meeting reviewed the measures taken by Law Enforcement Agencies and other Stakeholders to curb the menace of drug abuse and drug peddling in Kupwara district.
At the outset, the ADC took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of NCORD Committee regarding implementation of the deterrence measures taken and progress achieved to eliminate drug abuse and its peddling in the district.
He also reviewed the present scenario of drug related occurrences, treatment facilities for victims of substance abuse and rehabilitation measures taken by Administration, besides anti-drugs awareness campaign.
On the occasion, the ADC said the menace of Drugs is dangerous for society and stressed on adopting zero tolerance against drug abuse. He also called the members of NCORD Committee to keep vigil on vulnerable places to prevent spread of drugs.
ADC stressed upon the concerned officers to build the trust among the victims and their parents and intensify the IEC campaign for awareness of target groups. He stressed on engaging proper resource persons/experts in seminars so that the target group is educated about the harmful effects of the substance abuse in an impactful manner.
CMO Kupwara was directed to organize awareness programmes in PHCs where BMos, Tehsildars and other officers will provide support.
He directed the mobilization of the services of Numberdars, Chowkidars, ASHAs, AWWs and Panchayat Secretaries.
He directed the Officers of all the line Departments and law enforcing agencies to further intensify the deterrence measures to control the harmful effects of drug menace so that youth is discouraged from tempting towards drugs.
Earlier, the ADC was given feedback by the members of the Committee including Police Officers, who presented the latest report related to action taken against drug addiction and drug trafficking in Kupwara District.
