Moradabad civic body beautifies city with patriotism, culture themes under smart city initiative
Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 29 (ANI): The Moradabad Municipal Corporation has enhanced the city’s aesthetics with themes of patriotism, culture, health, and the environment as part of the smart city initiative.
In remembrance of the Kargil martyrs, the Moradabad Nagar Nigam has adorned the roads with wall paintings. Additionally, murals and paintings showcasing Indian culture and famous sports personalities have been created.
This beautification initiative aims to foster a sense of nationalism among citizens. Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh stated that this marks the second phase of the beautification effort.
“This is the second phase of beautification. Through this, we aim to brand the city in a way that inspires positivity,” Singh said while speaking to ANI.
Singh mentioned that the state government is focused on expanding facilities for the public. “The old city of Moradabad is congested, with limited expansion in the outer areas. With the help of the Municipal Corporation, we are trying to ensure both expansion and improved facilities,” Singh explained.
He added that efforts are underway to improve parking, develop the bus station, and upgrade roads.
“We aim to provide better parking facilities for the convenience of residents. We are also beautifying the bus station to make waiting more pleasant. Additionally, we are working on improvements for pedestrians and road infrastructure,” he said.
Moradabad was selected as one of the smart cities under the Smart Cities Mission, launched by the Ministry of Urban Development in 2015. This mission aims to develop 100 smart cities across India to promote sustainable development and improve citizens’ quality of life.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved 12 new Industrial Smart Cities project proposals under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme.
These industrial smart cities will be developed with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore, transforming the country’s industrial landscape by creating a robust network of industrial nodes and cities that will significantly boost economic growth and global competitiveness.
