MP: Congress leaders hold protest against scams in Indore
Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 6 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders on Tuesday staged a protest in front of the office of Indore Municipal Corporation in connection with the drainage scam and other scams in the state.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari, former minister Sajjan Singh Verma, former Union Minister Arun Yadav and other Congress leaders and party workers participated in the protest. During the protest, the Congress also organised a gathering which several leaders including Patwari addressed.
When the Congress workers along with state chief Patwari were heading to submit a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, the police stopped them by barricading them on the way. During this, some party workers tried to climb over the barricade and the police used water cannons to stop them.
Congress chief Patwari said, “There are scams of Rs 2000 crores and fake bills of Indore Municipal Corporation, if it is investigated properly then mayor-in-council (MIC) members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be in jail. The Congress party will complain the issue to Lokayukta and CBI.”
The congress party will not step back until the concerned corrupt people will be in jail, he added.
While addressing the gathering during the protest, Patwari took a potshot at state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya saying the latter abducted the Congress candidate during Lok Sabha polls and made him withdraw nomination.
“Kailash Vijayvargiya abducted the congress candidate and did not give a chance to people of Indore to exercise their franchise. The people of Indore trusted BJP a lot and voted to make a BJP-led municipal corporation five times. But the BJP-led municipal corporation deceived the public and committed the scam of Rs 2000 crores by making bills without letting the work be done,” Patwari said.
Taking a dig at the recent event about the mega plantation drive in Indore, the Congress leader said that Vijayvargiya had not been planting trees here but was shaking the roots of CM Mohan Yadav.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ram Sanehi Mishra said, “In view of the Congress protest in the city, we made arrangements to ensure that the general public should not face any problems during the protest. Barricades were put up for the same. But a few workers tried to jump the barricades, as a result of which water cannons were used.”
After taking the memorandum, everyone was dispersed peacefully and there was peace everywhere, he added.
