MP: Fire breaks out in ICU ward of Govt Jaya Arogya Hospital in Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 3 (ANI): A fire broke out in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) ward of Government Jaya Arogya Hospital’s Trauma Center in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district on Tuesday morning due to a short circuit in the central AC (Air Conditioning), a doctor on duty said.

With the prompt action of the medical staff in the hospital, the fire was brought under control.

The patients undergoing treatment in the ICU were also immediately shifted to another ward and no casualty was reported in the incident, he added.

Dr Amol, who was on duty, told ANI, “A short circuit occurred in the central AC in the ICU ward of the hospital as a result of which the fire broke out and it was brought under control immediately. No casualty occurred in the accident. There were six patients in the ward and all of them have been shifted safely to another ward. All the patients and staff are safe.”

Dean of Gajra Raja Medical College, Dr RKS Dhakad told ANI, “I received information about a fire that broke out in the central AC in ICU ward in the morning. Our doctors and para medical staff immediately doused the fire with fire extinguishers and all the patients were also shifted to another ward along with the ventilator. It is good that no casualty occurred in the incident.”
