MP Ladakh reviews preparations for Muharram in Leh district

Leh, July 13, 2024: The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Mohammad Hanifa Jan convened a meeting regarding the arrangements and preparations for the upcoming Muharram at Conference Hall, DC Office on July 13.

During the meeting Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Mohd (JKAS) briefed the MP about the previous meeting held at the Council level and the conclusions drawn from the meeting.

President, Anjuman Imamia, Leh and the President, Seerat Committee, Leh informed the MP about the requirements for the preparations and arrangements of Muharram and the need to allocate funds under the aegis of a religious head that can benefit people of all religions during their time of festivities.

Member of Parliament, Ladakh Mohammad Hanifa Jan instructed all the concerned departments to coordinate and fulfil the requirements of Muharram for smooth execution. He added that he has spoken to the Deputy Commissioner, Leh regarding the issues that were raised and he has been assured that they will be resolved at the earliest.

Additionally, he instructed the PHE and PDD department to provide water and electricity facilities at the village levels during the Muharram period.

The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Leh; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic; Chief Medical Officer, Leh; Divisional Forest Officer, Leh; Assistant Director, FCS & CA, Leh; Executive Engineer, PHE, Leh; Executive Engineer, PDD, Leh; Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Leh and other concerned officials.
