Multi-specialty camp organised senior citizens at SNM Hospital
Leh, Oct. 13, 2023: In celebration of the International Day of Older Persons 2023, the Health and Family Welfare Department, Leh organised a multi-specialty camp for senior citizens at SNM Hospital on October 12, as part of the National Programme for Health Care of Elderly (NPHCE). This camp will continue to provide services to senior citizens until October 17.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.’ Throughout October, India is observing elderly month to honor and support its older population.
The multi-specialty camp offers a range of medical services, including Geriatricians, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental, Psychiatry, Amchi, Dermatology, and more. Various stalls have been set up to provide services such as registration, NCD screening, pharmacy access, and information on programs like Jan Aushadhi, NTCP, TB Prevention, Nutrition/NCD Counseling, Ayushman Bharat Golden Card, and the Elder Line (National Helpline for Senior Citizens) provided by Help Age India Shey.
Additionally, the Social Welfare Department has set up a stall to create awareness about various government schemes that benefit senior citizens.
Mission Director, National Health Mission/ Director Health Services, Dr. Motup Dorje was the chief guest during the inaugural ceremony.
Other dignitaries present included Dr. Rinchen, the Medical Superintendent of SNM Hospital in Leh, Dr. Jigmet, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dolma Chuskit, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jamila, District Health Officer, and several multi-specialist healthcare professionals from SNM Hospital.
Senior citizens from the Old Age Home in Shey, along with all staff members and the NCD/IEC team, also participated in this event.
