MVD conducts awareness camp at Udhampur  

UDHAMPUR, January 16: As part of the National Road Safety Month being  observed from January 15-2024 to  February 14-2024, the Motor Vehicles Department organized a one-day awareness camp here in the ARTO Office.

Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai inaugurated the event as the chief guest, while ARTO Udhampur Ramesh Kumar presided over it.

DySP Traffic Arun Jamwal, NCC cadets from Government Girls Higher Secondary school, representatives of Bus and Matador unions, and other stakeholders participated in the event.

While addressing the participants, the DC emphasized the crucial need to educate people about following traffic rules for the safety of all road users. She highlighted that over-speeding and negligent driving are major causes of road accidents, emphasizing the importance of mass awareness among road users. The DC stressed the significance of adhering to traffic rules by involving various stakeholders.

  She expressed confidence that such programs would significantly contribute to generating awareness among the general public, minimizing road accidents, and promoting healthy and safe driving habits. DC urged the general public to actively participate in spreading the message of road safety in society.

 She added that during the month-long observance, various activities are planned throughout the district to create awareness among the general public and provide opportunities for all stakeholders to contribute to the cause of road safety.
