MVD hosts awareness program to promote responsible driving as part of Road Safety Week
RAJOURI, January 11: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), on Wednesday, organized a road safety drive awareness camp to spread awareness and promote responsible driving.
The main aim of the campaign was to address the alarming rise in traffic violations and emphasize the importance of following road safety regulations. The event will be spearheaded by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Vivek Shekhar. The program is organised as a part of Road Safety Awareness week in the district.
At the event, the ASP spoke about the importance of abiding by traffic rules, urging all participants to follow them and adhere to road safety regulations. He also pointed out that adhering to the rules is not only the social responsibility of all participants but also the most effective way to prevent road accidents.
“In the age of fast-paced lifestyles, the importance of observing traffic regulations while driving is of utmost importance — driving is not just a means of transportation, but also a matter of life and death,” added ASP.
Traffic rules are not just a set of directions and regulations to ensure safe transportation on the roads but these also reflect a larger responsibility of the drivers to ensure the safety of others as well as themselves.
Sanjay Sharma, Ward Councillor also spoke on the occasion and advised the target groups to abide by the traffic rules.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Rajouri while speaking at the event also highlighted the online services provided by the Motor Vehicle Department. He urged all participants to be part of the road safety drive and join in the mission of keeping roads safe.
We are confident that a successful campaign would go a long way in ensuring safer roads and reducing the number of casualties due to road accidents, he added.
