NAKSHA Pilot scheme launched in Katra Town to facilitate Advanced Urban Land Management
REASI, FEBRUARY 18: The historic town of Katra today witnessed the formal inauguration of the ambitious NAKSHA Pilot Scheme, a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance urban land management through cutting-edge technology.

The launch event was graced by the esteemed presence of Baldev Raj Sharma, MLA of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD), who served as the Chief Guest and emphasized the transformative potential of the scheme in his keynote address.
The event saw the participation of key government functionaries including Tej Krishan Bhat, Commissioner of Survey and Land Records Jammu and Kashmir; the Director Geo -Spatial J&K Inam Amil; ADC Reasi Rakesh Kumar; and SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra. Their collective presence reinforced the collaborative efforts of various government bodies in ensuring the successful implementation and scalability of the NAKSHA Pilot Scheme.
In his address, MLA Baldev Raj Sharma highlighted the scheme’s vision to integrate advanced technology with urban governance, promoting a more structured and efficient approach to land management. He commended the synchronized efforts of both central and state agencies, acknowledging the scheme’s potential to serve as a model for other urban centers across the country.
Providing further insight into the initiative, T.K. Bhat, Commissioner of Survey and Land Records, elaborated on the technical facets of the NAKSHA Pilot Scheme. He underscored the critical role of drone technology and digital mapping in accurately documenting and managing urban land records, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in urban planning.
The Director Geo-Spatial J&K also shed light on the potential applications of data collected under the scheme, emphasizing its significant role in informed decision-making for urban development strategies.
A key highlight of the event was a live demonstration of drone technology, where attendees witnessed real-time data collection and mapping capabilities in action. This demonstration provided a first-hand look at how cutting-edge technology can revolutionize land management processes.
