National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) Awareness workshop at Central University of Jammu
Jammu, 09 Feb-2024: An Awareness Workshop on National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) was organized by Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Ministry of Education, Government of India at Central University of Jammu under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor CUJ.
The workshop was attended by about 100 representatives from more than 63 different central & state governments, public sector undertakings and private establishments.
Sunil Kumar, Assistant Director, BOAT(NR), Ministry of Education, GOI graced the occasion and informed about the objectives of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), its effectiveness, plan for implementation of NATS in Jammu & Kashmir, UT and the expectation from the stakeholders mainly from the Industries established in the Industrial Estate of Bari Brahmana and Samba areas along with others.
Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar CUJ, in his address informed about the apprenticeship training opportunities for candidates and industries can develop skilled manpower for their future requirement. He also briefed about the academic programs offered by the Central University of Jammu and said that Central University jammu is working to meet the demand and skills required by Industries.
Representatives from different sectors shared their views and underlined the importance of apprenticeship training and the difficulties faced by the industries to get the candidates for apprenticeship training in their organization as there are limited educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dheeraj Dhawan, HR member from LUPIN said that there are no or few pharmacy colleges in Jammu and how the pharmaceutical sector is facing problems for the students.He said the apprentices are imparted on-the-job training in establishments for improving their skills and employability. Stipend is paid to the apprentices by the establishments during their training. He gave the detailed information about the different modules of the NATS portal and how establishments can complete the apprenticeship cycle for a student in their organization using the portal in online mode.
Some of the major companies participated in the event were Lupin, Anphar Organics, IISER Mohali, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Kwar HEP CVPPPL, Chenab Valley Power Projects, Berger India, Dabur India, Central institute of Hand Tools, JKB Financial Services, Vitasta Health care centre, Reliance Industries Limited Hoshiarpur and many more.
Viraj Magotra, Training and Placement Officer-CUJ emphasised on the importance of students training in getting relevant industry experience and briefed the attendees that the students of the Central university of jammu getting paid training in organisations of repute which eventually turns into job offers.
